Cooks, who turns 33 on September 25th, spent last season split between the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills, appearing in 15 regular-season games and combining for 279 receiving yards across both teams.
Cooks is entering his 13th NFL season as a former first-round pick from Oregon State. According to one source, he is signing with the practice squad "initially to get up to speed for games." He is 189 yards short of reaching 10,000 career receiving yards in his NFL career. The signing comes as the 49ers address multiple injuries at the wide receiver position.
