The Oakland Athletics expect shortstop Jacob Wilson to miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to a left shoulder injury, per multiple reports. Wilson dislocated the shoulder in May and has dealt with the injury throughout the year, in addition to issues with his right thumb and knee, according to Yahoo Sports.
Wilson is headed to Sacramento to see a doctor, though no move was announced before the Athletics' game in Kansas City on the day the news broke, per MLB Trade Rumors.
In a related move, the Athletics claimed outfielder Johnathan Rodríguez off waivers from the Pirates and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas. To create roster space, Oakland transferred outfielder Tyler Soderstrom to the 60-day injured list.
