Joshua Báez made his major league debut count, becoming the first MLB player to hit home runs in his first three career at-bats. The Cardinals' No. 3 prospect was called up from Triple-A Memphis and inserted into Saturday's starting lineup against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Báez connected on the very first pitch he saw, according to reporting from multiple outlets. He followed that with a solo go-ahead homer in his second at-bat that gave St. Louis a 4-3 lead. He then launched a third home run in his third at-bat to complete the historic performance.
