Bill Belichick said Monday he believes UNC "totally" has an atmosphere of following rules, per ESPN and ESPN's reporting. This comes as the school investigates conduct within his football program.

Belichick remained largely quiet on the active investigation itself, per CBS Sports' Brad Crawford, who noted the Tar Heels are navigating off-the-field issues entering Week 2 of the season. Yahoo Sports reported that while Belichick defended the program's culture, key questions about North Carolina football remain unanswered and the investigation could test his control of the program.

AWL Announcing's Sean Keeley reported that Michael Lombardi has resigned from the program. Keeley also noted that despite UNC opening the 2026 season with a win over TCU, Belichick was reluctant to address the turmoil surrounding the program.
