The Atlanta Braves announced that right-handers Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep will undergo season-ending elbow surgeries following setbacks in their pre-season rehabilitation, per MLB.com's Mark Bowman.
Schwellenbach will have surgery on the same elbow fracture he dealt with last year. Waldrep will undergo Tommy John surgery. Per Battery Power, Waldrep will likely miss all of 2027, while no timetable has been provided for Schwellenbach's recovery.
Both pitchers were recovering from right elbow procedures before the 2025 season began. The surgeries represent additional blows to an Atlanta rotation that has already sustained multiple injuries this year.
