The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed starter Dustin May and left-handed reliever JoJo Romero from the St. Louis Cardinals, per reporting from Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic.
The Brewers are sending prospects to St. Louis in return. MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reported that Alexander Frias and Josiah Ragsdale are heading to the Cardinals. However, other outlets citing different sourcing mentioned different prospect names—Scott Hughes reported Josh Knoth and Coleman Crow as the prospects involved, though that report remained unconfirmed across outlets.
One outlet noted the acquisition comes after Milwaukee reportedly missed out on acquiring Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers. The trade was completed with less than three hours remaining before the deadline.
