The NBA's Milwaukee Bucks have changed the start time of their home opener because the Brewers are hosting Game 1 of the World Series in Milwaukee the same night. MLB.com's Jared Greenspan framed it as the city backing the Brewers. CBS Sports' Jack Maloney noted that the World Series is coming to Milwaukee for the first time since 1982 and that it affects the NBA schedule. Yahoo Sports' headline said the Bucks moved their tip-off time, and its summary added: "Make sure to squeeze a fish fry in between games!"
Only the r/baseball post gives the new time. It says the Bucks moved the opener up to 3 p.m. The MLB.com, CBS and Yahoo summaries we have don't state a time, so treat 3 p.m. as the Reddit poster's figure until the team or league confirms it. None of the feeds we have gives the original tip time, the Bucks' opponent, or a first-pitch time for Game 1.
The Brewers are there on the back of a strong finish. Our records have them at 103-59 and first in the NL Central. They have won five straight and have beaten the Dodgers in all four meetings we hold: 2-1 on Oct. 11 and 7-4 on Oct. 12 at home, then 6-2 on Oct. 14 and 6-4 on Oct. 15 at Dodger Stadium. Over their last six games they have scored 4.5 runs per game and allowed 2.67.
That run of results bears on the scheduling. A 3 p.m. basketball start would give fans time to get across town for a Brewers game on the same night. Whether that is the reasoning behind the move is not in anything we have, so we won't say it is.
What comes next is the Series itself. Our schedule still lists a Brewers game at Los Angeles on Oct. 16 as not started, and it lists Oct. 18 and 19 games at Milwaukee. We can't reconcile those entries with a Game 1 in Milwaukee, so check the official World Series schedule for the date and time.
