Before kickoff, CBS Sports' Chinmay Vaidya published first-touchdown-scorer picks for Monday Night Football between the Cowboys and Eagles. The feed summary says only that the piece names the "best choices" for those markets. The names themselves aren't in what we have, so we can't say whether the picks hit. Deadspin's preview had Dallas favored by 4.5 points against a Philadelphia team "dealing with significan…". The summary cuts off there, so we can't say what the problem was. Sportsnet ran a live tracker.
BenchScout's box score shows the game in the fourth quarter with 15:00 on the clock. Dallas leads 28-21 at Lincoln Financial Field, and this is not a final score. The archive doesn't say who scored first, so we can't settle the first-touchdown question. It does show how the game has gone. Dallas has 330 yards to Philadelphia's 240, and averages 6.9 yards a play to the Eagles' 5.3. Neither team has turned the ball over.
Dak Prescott is 14 of 25 for 206 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions and a 122.7 rating. CeeDee Lamb has two touchdown catches on five receptions for 74 yards, from 12 targets. George Pickens has the other, on three catches for 51 yards. Javonte Williams leads the ground game with 88 yards on 14 carries. Brandon Aubrey is 2 of 2 on field goals, with a long of 55.
Philadelphia's three touchdowns have come from different players. Saquon Barkley ran for one, on seven carries for 62 yards. Dameon Pierce also ran one in, and Makai Lemon caught one. Lemon leads the Eagles with six catches for 59 yards. Tanner McKee is 15 of 23 for 134 yards and one touchdown. Philadelphia has gained 5.5 yards per pass attempt, against Dallas's 8.2.
The stakes are about the season. Both teams are 2-4 coming in. The Eagles have lost four straight: 24-20 to the Rams, 19-17 at Jacksonville and 25-14 to Carolina, with the fourth loss earlier than the three games we list. Dallas has lost two in a row, 24-16 to Tampa Bay and 23-13 at Green Bay, after a 34-30 win at Houston on Oct. 4. A Dallas win would put it a game ahead of Philadelphia, which is third in the NFC East to the Cowboys' second.
Both teams play again on Sunday, Nov. 1. The Eagles are at Washington, and the Cowboys host Arizona.
