Cowboys outside linebacker Marist Liufau exited Friday night's preseason finale against the New Orleans Saints early after suffering a broken forearm. He returned to the sideline with his arm in a cast and sling.
Liufau is scheduled to undergo surgery as early as Monday, per ESPN. Coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated the injury will sideline him for "weeks," though owner Jerry Jones offered a more optimistic assessment of the recovery timeline, ESPN reported.
The injury casts uncertainty over Liufau's availability for the regular season. He had been contributing on special teams and at outside linebacker for Dallas heading into the preseason finale.
