The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, September 12, improving their position in the NL Wild Card hunt. Michael Busch provided an early boost with an opposite-field home run off Pirates starter Paul Skenes to put the Cubs in front.

The Pirates, per Yahoo Sports, are battling to finish the season as the MLB playoffs slip away. The Cubs went for the series win in the matchup, which featured Skenes on the mound for Pittsburgh against Cubs pitcher Clay Holmes.
