Stephen Curry scored a season-high 44 points Wednesday night, and the Warriors held on to beat the Timberwolves 119-114 at Target Center. ESPN reported that Minnesota played without injured guard Anthony Edwards. Yahoo Sports noted that the 44 was Curry's 15th game of 40 or more points at age 35 or older, which ties LeBron James for the most all-time. That count comes from Yahoo alone, and we haven't checked it against our own tables.

The box score shows how Curry got there. He shot 11-of-27 overall and 6-of-16 from three, which is not an efficient night. He made all 16 of his free throws, which Yahoo highlighted, and he committed no fouls in 32 minutes. He also had eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Deadspin credited him with the eight boards too. Golden State went 30-of-37 at the line against Minnesota's 19-of-27.

Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg added 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting with eight rebounds, but he also had seven of the Warriors' 16 turnovers. Golden State led by as many as 24 and was ahead 64-48 at halftime. Minnesota then outscored it 33-29 in the third and 33-26 in the fourth. Yahoo said the Warriors almost blew the lead. Golden State Of Mind's Sean Keane described a fourth-quarter slide of turnovers, dropped passes and missed chances after a strong first three quarters. He compared the late Warriors to the team that lost its second game of the season to Memphis. The Wolves scored 22 points off turnovers to Golden State's 13.

Jonathan Kuminga led the comeback attempt with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting, and Yahoo framed the game around him. Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. each scored 19, and Ayo Dosunmu had 17. LaMelo Ball had eight assists but shot 3-of-11 and turned the ball over six times. Edwards was averaging 12.5 made field goals a night through four games, and his absence left Minnesota short of the shot-making it needed to finish the comeback.

The result moves the Warriors to 2-2 and second in the Pacific. They have won two in a row after an 0-3 start, which ESPN and Golden State Of Mind's Brady Klopfer both mentioned. Klopfer wrote that he didn't expect a decent record anytime soon after the loss at Phoenix. The first of the two wins was a 134-114 victory at Denver on Monday. Curry had 24 points that night on 8-of-8 shooting. In his three regular-season games he is shooting 52.6 percent, and this was his biggest scoring night of the three.

Minnesota is also 2-2 and sits third in the Northwest. It has lost two straight, including a 127-125 defeat at Cleveland on Monday. The Wolves host the Clippers on Friday. Golden State comes home Friday to face the Lakers, in a game that will test whether the Warriors can protect a lead better than they did in Minneapolis.
