Dabo Swinney said the criticism he is facing following Clemson's 51-10 season-opening loss to No. 11 LSU on Saturday is deserved, per ESPN. The Tigers' performance in Baton Rouge was described by multiple outlets as embarrassing, with the program appearing outmatched for much of the game.

However, Swinney became defensive when addressing roster questions during his postgame availability. Per reporting from CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports, the Clemson head coach lashed out at a media member over questions about his roster construction. Yahoo Sports characterized the reporter's question as "fairly reasonable," while Swinney reportedly called the reporter a "gotcha guy." CBS Sports noted Swinney appeared to be taking out his frustrations on the media member.

Swinney stated "I know we're better than the way we played," per ESPN, but the loss marks the worst of his Clemson tenure and has prompted further questions about the program's direction under his leadership.
