Anthony Davis had 34 points and 12 rebounds in his Washington debut, and the Wizards beat the Milwaukee Bucks 128-116 on Wednesday night, ESPN and the Associated Press reported. It was the season opener for both teams, played at Capital One Arena.

Our box score shows how Davis got there. He shot 11 of 20 from the field and 11 of 14 at the line, with nine of his 12 rebounds on the defensive glass. He also had four assists, two steals and a block in 34 minutes. Last season, with Dallas, he averaged 24.7 points and 11.6 rebounds over 51 games. Wednesday's line is close to that, with more points than his average.

The Wizards won despite shooting 6 of 28 from three (21%), against 15 of 41 for Milwaukee. They made up for it inside and at the line. Washington scored 70 points in the paint to the Bucks' 50, and went 32 of 41 from the line while Milwaukee took only 23 free throws and committed 32 fouls. The Wizards also had 11 steals to Milwaukee's 5 and seven blocks to two. Trae Young scored 20 points and had 13 assists, and Kyshawn George added 18. Washington's largest lead was 13.

For Milwaukee, Tyler Herro scored 24 on 9-of-21 shooting with nine assists, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 22. The Bucks led after the first half, 56-51, but scored only 23 in the fourth quarter to Washington's 38. They are 0-1 and on a one-game losing streak.

The only injury note comes from Yahoo Sports' game-day item, which said AJ Dybantsa would miss the game. It gave no reason and no timeline. We have no other outlet's account of his status, so how long he is out is unknown. Yahoo's note was a preview and ran before the result, so it doesn't speak to how the Wizards played without him.

Washington is 1-0 and sits second in the Southeast. Its results before the opener were a 107-106 loss at New Orleans on Oct. 16 and a 131-122 loss to Brooklyn on Oct. 12. The Wizards play again Friday at home against Toronto. Milwaukee is home Friday against Chicago.
