The St. Louis Cardinals came close to sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, striking first against Dodgers starter Tarik Skubal and building a lead through much of the game. But the Dodgers mounted a ninth-inning comeback, with Teoscar Hernández delivering the decisive blow: a walk-off double that lifted Los Angeles to a 3-2 victory at Dodger Stadium.

Hernández's two-run hit in the bottom of the ninth prevented what would have been a third straight defeat for the Dodgers. The Cardinals' bullpen could not hold the lead in the final inning. Quinn Mathews started for St. Louis.

Tommy Edman had a strong night for the Dodgers, collecting four hits and scoring two runs. The loss ends the Cardinals' bid to claim supremacy in all-time National League wins over their division rival.
