TreVeyon Henderson has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain and will miss multiple weeks, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Patriots running back suffered the injury during the second quarter of Sunday's 45-17 win over the Raiders, when he was tackled following a run.

Schefter reported that Henderson will not need surgery, and the Patriots are hoping his reputation as a quick healer will allow him to return sooner than the typical timeline for the injury. The reporting outlets did not specify a more precise timetable beyond "multiple weeks."

The timing complicates matters for New England, which sits 3-2 in the AFC East after wins in two of its last three games. Beyond the Raiders rout, the Patriots also defeated Buffalo 29-26 on the road before that, sandwiched around a 35-6 loss at Jacksonville. The club faces the New York Jets on Sunday, October 18.

Henderson had appeared in four games this season before the injury ended his availability against Las Vegas. The Patriots will need to manage their backfield depth for the coming weeks while waiting for his return to practice and game availability.
