The New York Jets will move forward with rookie Cade Klubnik as their backup quarterback, head coach Aaron Glenn announced. The decision comes after the Jets did not claim a quarterback off waivers on Monday and do not plan to acquire one through other means, per Pro Football Talk.

Instead of adding a veteran insurance policy, ESPN reported the Jets will enter the season with Klubnik holding the No. 2 role. The announcement followed the release of the team's initial 53-man roster as the Jets prepare for their Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
