Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $13 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal includes a player option for the second season.

Kuminga was heavily pursued by the Lakers over the past two months, but chose the shorter deal in Minnesota instead. According to Yahoo Sports, he accepted less money per year to get the flexibility of a shorter commitment, leaving himself the chance to hit the free agent market again next summer. Anthony Edwards reportedly helped recruit Kuminga to the Timberwolves.

Kuminga was traded to the Hawks ahead of last season's trade deadline before joining the Timberwolves as a free agent.
