The Lakers ownership situation has grown more complicated as five members of the Buss family released a statement expressing their unified intention to sell their remaining shares of the team, directly contradicting Jeanie Buss, who serves as team governor and opposes the sale, per Yahoo Sports.

Jeanie Buss has indicated she is open to buying out her family's shares in an attempt to maintain control, Yahoo Sports reported. Her legal team also accused ESPN's Shams Charania of inaccurately reporting details of the ownership dispute, prompting Charania to fire back and stand by his reporting, according to Yahoo Sports.

Meanwhile, current owner Mark Walter does not believe the impending sale of his stake to Joshua Kushner and Bob Iger will be affected by the family conflict, per reporting from Sam Amick and Dan Woike of The Athletic, as cited by Hoops Rumors. However, two other team and league sources told The Athletic that the record-breaking transaction could potentially face complications, suggesting uncertainty about how the family dispute might ultimately impact Walter's deal.
