Detroit Lions running back Isiah Pacheco underwent back surgery Monday and will miss significant time, Lions head coach Dan Campbell announced. Pacheco had been on injured reserve since the start of the preseason with a back injury.

ESPN reported that Pacheco is expected to miss 12 weeks following the procedure. CBS Sports cited reports of the same 12-week recovery timeline, noting he could potentially return in December. Campbell's public comments to reporters suggested the absence will extend well beyond the immediate term, telling media it will "be a while" before Pacheco returns to the field.

Pacheco was already ruled out for at least three games due to his injured reserve designation before undergoing surgery.
