J.J. McCarthy had an erratic performance for the Minnesota Vikings in their preseason game against the Ravens on Saturday, according to ESPN. McCarthy completed 5 of 10 passes for 81 yards in the Vikings' 13-3 loss.
Pro Football Talk reported that McCarthy misfired on a potential touchdown pass during the game and also took a hit, though the extent of any injury remains unclear from available reporting. The Vikings turned to undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano after McCarthy's struggles, per ESPN.
The loss came as McCarthy and other NFL quarterbacks continued competing for roster spots in the second week of the preseason.
