Wade Meckler of the Angels was hit in the head by a pitch and forced to leave the game in the fifth inning, per reporting on the incident.
Separately, the Arizona Diamondbacks transferred second baseman Ketel Marte to the 10-day injured list from the restricted list, GM Mike Hazen confirmed. The move came three days after Marte failed to show up for a game in Boston. One report indicated Marte is dealing with inflammation, though the full nature of his condition was not detailed in available reporting.
