The Green Bay Packers are placing wide receiver Jayden Reed on injured reserve due to a neck injury, head coach Matt LaFleur announced Wednesday. ESPN reported that Reed will undergo season-ending neck surgery.
Reed sustained the injury during a Week 2 road win over the New York Jets, according to Yahoo Sports, though NFL Trade Rumors cited Adam Schefter reporting the injury occurred in Week 3 on a hit from Jets linebacker Demario Davis. Reed was carted off the field following the hit.
LaFleur said last week it was premature to discuss whether Reed would return this season. Per Schefter, Reed is now out indefinitely as he continues his recovery, with the surgery marking an end to his 2024 campaign.
