Florida State's Week 1 matchup against No. 19 SMU was delayed Monday night after a power outage struck Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. According to reports, a transformer blew while attempting to power up the stadium, leaving the lights and press box without electricity. The delay lasted approximately 100 minutes before kickoff, which had been originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
The teams eventually played with limited power at the venue. SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings led the Mustangs to victory despite throwing two interceptions, orchestrating a winning scoring drive capped by Nick Reed's 20-yard field goal with 21 seconds remaining. SMU won 27-24.
The power issues provided fodder for FSU's rivals: Miami used the outage to troll the Seminoles on social media, posting about the stadium's lighting troubles.
