Ben Rice made postseason history by hitting two home runs in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Rays, per multiple outlets. According to Yahoo Sports and Pinstripe Alley, Rice was named Player of the Game. One of his homers came off Freddy Peralta's pitch and gave the Yankees their first run of the series, per Sportsnet.
The loss left the Yankees facing elimination and needing to win three straight games to keep their season alive, according to Pinstripe Alley. Yahoo Sports described Rice's two-homer performance as "the only resistance the Yankees could muster" in what it called another ugly playoff loss.
