Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is expected to miss at least next week's game against Arizona after suffering a hip injury during Wednesday's season opener, per multiple reports.

Coach Mike Macdonald said the team has received "really good news" regarding the injury, per ESPN, and one source told Adam Schefter the Seahawks "dodged a bullet" by avoiding a more serious ailment. However, Seahawks team doctors are still reviewing the results of Darnold's MRI to determine the full extent of his absence.

Yahoo Sports reported that the expectation is Darnold could return "fairly soon," citing the fact that discussions center on missing only the following week rather than an extended period. The injury ended Darnold's night during the Seahawks' season-opening win over New England on the opening drive.
