Steve Alford will retire at the end of the upcoming 2026-27 season, concluding a 36-year coaching career, multiple outlets reported. Alford has compiled over 700 wins at the college level and earned 13 NCAA tournament berths, five conference tournament titles and six regular-season championships across his stops at Missouri State, Iowa, New Mexico, UCLA and Nevada, per Yahoo Sports.
Alford is entering his eighth season at Nevada, where he has gone 137-88 with NCAA Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024, according to Yahoo Sports. His previous head coaching positions included UCLA, New Mexico and Iowa.
