The Tampa City Council voted 4-3 on Thursday to approve a stadium development deal for the Tampa Bay Rays. According to ESPN and other outlets, the measure involves a $2.3 billion deal for a new ballpark funded by public and private money. Yahoo Sports reported that the city would commit $80 million toward infrastructure required for the new stadium.
The three council members who voted against the measure were Miranda, Hurtak, and Maniscalco, per Yahoo Sports. Those three had voted no on previous stadium votes. The approval moves the process forward to Hillsborough County, where commissioners will vote on the deal Friday, per MLB Trade Rumors.
