The Texans have acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison from the Cardinals, per Ian Rapoport. Houston is sending a second- and sixth-round pick in 2027, along with a seventh-round pick, according to the report. Head coach DeMeco Ryans announced the trade at the podium following the team's win over the Titans on Sunday.
The trade reunites Harrison with college quarterback C.J. Stroud, who led the Texans' offense this season. Negotiations between the two teams had centered on draft capital, with Pro Football Talk reporting that talks focused on the difference between a second-round pick in 2027 versus 2028—a distinction that shaped the final framework.
Houston enters the trade in a dire position. The Texans are 0-4 and have lost four straight games heading into Sunday's matchup against Jacksonville. The team's offense has struggled: through four games, Stroud has completed 61.6 percent of his passes for 1,141 yards and a 7.6-yard average, numbers that reflect both the early-season dysfunction and the lack of receiving weapons. The Texans' loss to Tennessee on Sunday—a dominant 26-3 victory—came as Houston searched for answers after surrendering 34 points to Dallas and losing by three at Indianapolis the week prior.
The Cardinals, sitting at 1-3 in the NFC West, have also struggled this season. Arizona finalized the deal to move Harrison after losing three consecutive games, including a 36-30 defeat at San Francisco and a 31-7 loss to Seattle. By trading the receiver, the Cardinals clear cap space and reset their approach mid-season.
Harrison has recorded 60 receptions for 636 yards and five touchdowns across 15 games this season. The former Ohio State standout arrives in Houston as the Texans attempt to salvage a season that has begun in crisis. Houston faces Jacksonville next Sunday.
