The Houston Texans have signed quarterback Brett Rypien and placed Graham Mertz on injured reserve following a torn ACL, per multiple reports.
Mertz is out for the season with the knee injury. Per NFL Trade Rumors, the Texans also placed running back Joshua Pitsenberger on injured reserve in a corresponding move. Rypien, 30, went undrafted out of Boise State in 2019 before signing a three-year, $1.755 million contract, according to NFL Trade Rumors.
The signings address Houston's quarterback depth chart after losing Mertz to injury.
