The Rays beat the Brewers 4-3 in 12 innings on Tuesday at Tropicana Field. Pinch-hitter Ben Williamson ended it with a ground-ball single to right field. Per the play log, Nick Fortes scored from third, with Jonny DeLuca and Chandler Simpson moving up behind him. Milwaukee still leads the World Series 3-1.

The Brewers took the lead in the top of the 12th. Yahoo Sports reported that Cooper Pratt's homer "isn't enough" for Milwaukee. Our box score has Pratt 4-for-5 with a double, the homer, two RBI and a run scored. Tampa Bay answered with two runs on four hits in the bottom half. Shane Drohan took the loss without retiring a batter, giving up four hits and a run on 15 pitches. Ian Seymour got the win, though he allowed Pratt's homer in the top of the 12th.

Pratt's night stands out against his regular season. He hit .281 with a .718 OPS and three home runs over 74 games, so a four-hit game with a homer in an elimination game was well above his usual output. Williamson's hit came on an unusual line too. He entered as a pinch-hitter with a .125 average in the box score and went 1-for-1 with the winning RBI.

Yahoo Sports said the game turned in the ninth on a replay decision. Jason Owens' piece called it a "controversial ninth-inning replay decision" that ended a Brewers threat and set up Rays to win in extras. Owens wrote that Milwaukee briefly thought it had the go-ahead run in scoring position. The feed summary doesn't say what was overturned or who made the call, and we have no full account of it. Our linescore shows Milwaukee went scoreless in the ninth on one hit.

The history is thin comfort for Tampa Bay. Yahoo Sports noted the Rays are only the fifth of 26 teams that trailed 3-0 in the World Series to win Game 4, and the previous four all lost Game 5. MLB.com's Sarah Langs, Andrew Simon and Manny Randhawa placed the finish among other crazy World Series endings. Castrovince's headline said the Rays "live to fight another day."

Both bullpens held on for a long stretch. Tampa Bay used seven pitchers, including 205 pitches over 12 innings, and Milwaukee used eight. The Rays won despite going 4-for-12 with runners in the last three innings only through the 12th, and Milwaukee left 10 on base.

The Rays are 98-64 and won the AL East. Milwaukee is 103-59 and won the NL Central. The Brewers had won five straight before Tuesday, including a 10-1 rout in Game 3 and a 5-4 win in Game 2. Game 5 is Wednesday, October 28, at Tampa Bay. If the Rays win, the series goes back to Milwaukee for Games 6 and 7 on October 30 and 31.
