The Yankees are calling up top prospect George Lombard Jr. for his major league debut on Tuesday, ESPN reported. The promotion comes after New York optioned shortstop Anthony Volpe to Triple-A, creating an open roster spot.

Per MLB Trade Rumors, the Yankees also optioned prospects Jasson Dominguez and Angel Chivilli to Triple-A, clearing additional 26-man roster room. The team had an available spot on its 40-man roster, allowing the promotion to proceed without requiring a corresponding move.

Lombard, 21, has been performing at a high level in Triple-A for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. In one recent game cited by Pinstripe Alley, he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, and three RBIs, one short of the cycle.
