The Brewers are one win from the first World Series championship in franchise history. They beat the Rays 10-1 on Monday night in Game 3 and lead the series 3-0. Sportsnet's Shi Davidi wrote that they "continued to avalanche their way through the post-season," and the game turned on an eight-run fifth inning. MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince called it a "historic romp."

The outlets disagree on the score. Yahoo Sports has it 10-0, while SB Nation and our own records have it 10-1. Our box score shows why: the Rays scored in the ninth, when pinch-hitter Cedric Mullins singled and came around. The shutout was gone only at the very end.

The box score fills in the rest. Milwaukee had 16 hits to Tampa Bay's three, and the Rays had one error. The Brewers scored two in the third, then sent a full lineup through the fifth, when they got eight hits and eight runs. Our line score shows no home runs in the game, so the offense came from sustained contact. The Brewers also stranded 18 runners and still won by nine.

Jackson Chourio went 4-for-5 with a double and a stolen base. Brice Turang was 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Cooper Pratt drove in two. William Contreras went 3-for-5 and is hitting .419 on the box score's season line. Robert Gasser got the win with six innings of one-hit, shutout ball, and his season ERA now reads 0.60. Antonio Senzatela threw two scoreless innings. Brandon Woodruff gave up the Rays' only run in the ninth.

SB Nation's Kris Willis wrote that the Rays "were hoping a change of scenery would jumpstart their struggling offense," and that the Brewers "have been the better team this entire series." Monday's three hits don't help the Rays' case. The Rays won 98 games and the AL East, but they have lost two in a row. Saturday's 5-4 loss at Milwaukee was close, and Monday's was not. The Brewers went 103-59, won the NL Central and have won five straight.

The series stays at Tropicana Field for Game 4 on Tuesday, Oct. 27. A Brewers win would finish the sweep. If the Rays win, Game 5 is scheduled for Oct. 28, also in Tampa Bay.
