The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that defensive tackle C.J. West has been placed on injured reserve due to a bone chip in his knee that will require surgery, per ESPN. West will miss at least a portion of the season.
To address the roster impact, the 49ers signed defensive tackle Naquan Jones off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad, according to Niners Nation. Yahoo Sports noted the move depletes the team's depth at the position, saying the 49ers went "from being thin to their depth being depleted at defensive tackle."
The 49ers also made other roster moves Wednesday. They signed wide receiver Brandin Cooks and released cornerback Jakob Robinson from the practice squad while signing defensive lineman Viliami Fekhoko Jr., per Niners Nation.
