Drew Rasmussen and Bryan Baker combined to pitch a one-hit game Saturday night as the Rays shut down the Yankees' offense to take Game 1 of their ALDS series. Per ESPN, Rasmussen was nearly perfect through seven innings before Austin Wells broke up the no-hit bid in the eighth—though Wells was thrown out attempting to reach third on the play.
Rasmussen retired 13 straight batters through seven innings, according to reporting on social media. The Rays won 1-0, holding the Yankees to a single hit. Yahoo Sports noted that Gerrit Cole delivered a strong pitching performance for New York in the loss, suggesting the Yankees still have the formula to compete in the series despite the Game 1 defeat.
