Chris Spatola, an ESPN college basketball analyst who also worked for SiriusXM, has died at age 47. ESPN announced his death on Tuesday. Yahoo Sports reported that Spatola passed away unexpectedly over the weekend.
Spatola was a four-year starter at Army from 1998 to 2002, playing as a guard for the West Point program. After his playing career, he joined Duke's coaching staff, where he served for five years from 2007 to 2012 under Mike Krzyzewski, his father-in-law. He was on staff when the Blue Devils won the national championship in 2010.
Following his time at Duke, Spatola became a veteran analyst for ESPN and SiriusXM, providing college basketball coverage for over a decade. He is survived by his wife Jamie and their three children.
