Cornerback Tre'Davious White is returning to the Bills. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that White is signing to the practice squad, where he will get acclimated before joining the active roster. NFL Trade Rumors and Buffalo Rumblings both carried that detail, and Buffalo Rumblings quoted Schefter directly.
This will be White's third stint with the team, per Buffalo Rumblings. He is 31. NFL Trade Rumors noted he is a former first-round pick of the Bills in the 2017 draft out of LSU, and Buffalo Rumblings said he was the first player selected in that class by the club. Pro Football Talk and Yahoo Sports ran only the short version, that he is coming back. None of the reporting we have gives contract terms, a date for the move to the active roster, or what led to the signing.
Our archive has no season stats for White, so we can't say what he has done in 2026. The last game it shows him playing for Buffalo was on Jan. 17.
The Bills don't appear to be signing him out of trouble. They are 5-1 and first in the AFC East, on a two-game winning streak. They won 37-34 at the Rams on Oct. 12 and then 33-30 in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Those wins were close, and they came with a lot of points allowed. The Bills gave up 34 to the Rams and 30 to the Raiders. They also gave up 29 in their 29-26 loss to the Patriots on Oct. 4. Any help in the secondary will be tested quickly. Buffalo's next game is at home against the Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 1. Schefter's reporting says White is meant to join the active roster, but it gives no date, so whether he is available for Baltimore is not yet known.
