A Miami jury on Tuesday found Tyreek Hill liable for two counts of battery. It found him not liable on the eight remaining claims brought by Lakeeta Vaccaro, according to the Associated Press account carried by Sportsnet. That ended the civil trial between the wide receiver and his estranged wife. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported that the jury awarded Vaccaro $500,000, and that Hill "lost on two counts, won as to the rest."
The sourcing differs in places. The $500,000 figure appears in the PFT headline, but the AP text we have doesn't mention an amount. Neither summary says which two counts went against Hill or how the damages were divided. Arrowhead Pride's Ron Kopp Jr. wrote that Hill was "ruled responsible for some, but not all," and that the case ran "over the last few weeks." The AP calls Vaccaro Hill's "estranged wife," while PFT's headline says "ex-wife." We can't tell from the feeds which is current. We also have no word on whether either side plans to appeal.
Arrowhead Pride's piece also carries a note on Hill's football status. It describes him as a former Kansas City Chiefs receiver and a free agent "reportedly looking to play again this season." That is the only outlet with the detail, and it names no team and no timeline.
Our own records are consistent with Hill being without a roster spot. They list Tyreek Hill with the Miami Dolphins, but his last game on file was Sept. 29, 2025, against the Jets. He played four games that season and caught 21 passes for 265 yards and one touchdown. We have no 2026 stats for him. He did catch 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns in 2024, his last full season on record.
The Chiefs, his team in 2020 and 2021, have no stake in the verdict. They are 4-0 and lead the AFC West on a four-game winning streak. They have won three straight on the road or in close games: 33-30 over the Colts on Sept. 20, 24-10 at Miami on Sept. 27 and 30-27 at Las Vegas on Oct. 4. They host the Chargers on Sunday, Oct. 18.
The next step is Hill's. Arrowhead Pride says he wants to play this season, and no outlet has reported a team, a workout or a league decision. Any move would now come with the verdict on the record.
