Joey Porter Jr. was watching Brad Pitt's Heart of the Beast at the movies Wednesday night when he received word that the Steelers had traded him to the Cowboys. The cornerback said he felt "disrespected" and "underappreciated" by Pittsburgh, per multiple outlets reporting the trade.
Porter Jr. had missed all of training camp, the preseason and the first three games of the season with a back injury. The Steelers ruled him out for Thursday Night Football, though Porter Jr. said his back was "feeling better" and he hoped to play Sunday. Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the back pain claim proved to be the "final straw" for the organization.
Porter Jr., in his fourth year, expressed optimism about his fresh start in Dallas, per CBS Sports.
