Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte apologized for vulgar on-field celebrations by the top-ranked Longhorns during their victory over Tennessee, calling the conduct "embarrassing" for the university, per ESPN and CBS Sports.
Del Conte specifically referenced celebrations by players Colin Simmons and Raleek Brown, per CBS Sports. In a statement released through his weekly athletic department newsletter, Del Conte said the team "should represent this university with class, dignity and respect at all times, and in those moments, we fell short," according to Yahoo Sports and Burnt Orange Nation.
Del Conte emphasized that such celebrations "cannot happen again," per CBS Sports.
