Jonathan Taylor said Thursday that he has not requested a trade from the Colts. "I'm always proud to wear the horseshoe," he said, per Pro Football Talk. The question came up after the Colts traded two key pieces this week. PFT and Deadspin both tie it to those moves. The feed summaries we have don't name the players who were traded.

The outlets stress different parts of his answer. Yahoo Sports quoted him on the possibility of being moved: "Hopefully that day may not come, but I can't control that." ESPN described the Colts' roster overhaul and said Taylor acknowledged that any and all changes are possible. The fullest version comes from the r/nfl clip. Asked what he has heard about his status, Taylor said: "I haven't heard anything. I can't control that. Obviously, like you guys know, I'm always proud to wear the horseshoe, proud to be here. Similar to Quinn and Buck. They were proud to wear the horseshoe, proud to be here." The feed text doesn't say who "Quinn and Buck" are. It also doesn't say whether Taylor meant them as the two players who were traded.

He said he hasn't heard anything, and he did not say he expects to stay. None of the summaries report that the Colts have said Taylor is available or untouchable. They also don't say why the earlier trades happened, so we won't guess.

The Colts' record explains why the question was asked. They are 2-5 and second in the AFC South, 2.5 games behind the 4-2 Jaguars, with a run differential of -26. They have lost three straight: 34-22 at Pittsburgh on Oct. 11, 26-20 to Tennessee on Oct. 18, and 16-10 at Minnesota on Sunday. The Vikings are 6-0.

Taylor is still a main part of the offense. He has 587 rushing yards on 140 carries, a 4.2-yard average, and eight rushing touchdowns through seven games. He has also caught 17 passes for 178 yards. Last season he ran for 1,585 yards at 4.9 per carry with 18 rushing touchdowns over 17 games. His per-carry average is down this year, but his touchdown total is already close to half of last year's.
