Dan Campbell has confirmed that the Lions were active in pursuing cornerback Joey Porter Jr. before he was traded to the Cowboys this week. Campbell said the team was "very much in on" the young cornerback, per multiple reports.
Porter was dealt from the Steelers to Dallas, but the Lions had engaged in trade discussions with Pittsburgh. General manager Brad Holmes' involvement suggests Detroit remained focused on addressing its secondary even as the Cowboys ultimately won the bidding for Porter.
