The Oilers and Penguins have completed a trade, with Edmonton sending defenseman Spencer Stastney to Pittsburgh in exchange for forward Filip Hallander. The deal was announced Wednesday.
Per Pensburgh, Stastney is 26 years old and signed through the end of the season with a cap hit of $1.525 million. The Oilers acquired Stastney from the Predators last season for a 2027 third-round pick, according to Pro Hockey Rumors. Yahoo Sports reported that Edmonton is swapping defensive depth for offensive upside, with Hallander described as a productive Swedish center intended to bolster the bottom six.
