Champion Hurricanes give captain Jordan Staal, 38, new deal

Veteran forward Jordan Staal, 38, who captained the Carolina Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup title in June, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy for postseason MVP along the way, signed a one-year contract extension with the club late Tuesday night.
