Dad, how good was Dwight Gooden's 1985 season?

Incredible work there, Dwight, as a 20 year-old. Dwight's 13.3 bWAR season is 20th all-time. Only two of those seasons ahead of him were in the 20th century. The next player from the modern era is Steve Carlton (31st - 12.5). If you weren't alive then and are learning about players from the 80s, go look at his September line. I'm posting this as a Red Sox fan who was all in on Roger Clemens in that era. There's nothing like Dwight's 1985 season. 16 CG and 8 SO as a 20 year-old. submitted by /u/AreaManNYC [link] [comments]
