The 58-year old record for fewest qualified batters hitting .300 could fall this season

I posted about this last season as well, and although the year changed, the story remains the same. The record for the fewest qualified .300 hitters in a season is 6, set in "the year of the pitcher" in 1968. Last year, we barely scraped by with 7 , just like we did in 2024. Right now we're pretty likely to get 5, with 3 more as toss-ups, and 4 more batters with an outside shot for various reasons. Any total number from 4-9 is within the realm of possibility.
