The Seattle Mariners have officially been eliminated from playoff contention

The Rangers' win over the Mets today sealed the deal. With four games currently remaining for the Mariners, the best they can finish at is 78-84, but since the Rangers now have their 79th win, they can no longer catch them. This caps probably the most disappointing and most Mariner season in franchise history, which also happens to be their 50th. The Mariners were one of the top favorites before the season to reach the World Series this year, but instead they shit their bed and will miss the playoffs.
