In 1999, Jim Morris was a high school physics teacher and baseball coach in Texas, a decade removed from an injury-plagued Minor League pitching career. His teenage players were so impressed by the speed of his batting practice pitches that they convinced him to attempt a comeback. Morris said okay, but only if his team made the state playoffs. They did. And he did.
