There is a very real chance the single season strikeout record for batters gets broken this season
The single season record stands at 223, set by none other than noted strikeout legend Mark Reynolds, back in 2009. Currently, Kyle Schwarber and Colson Montgomery have 212 and 211 strikeouts respectively, both with 10 team games left to play. This puts them both right around the 1.5 K's per game mark, meaning with no time missed from now until the end of the season, they should both beat the record.
