The San Francisco 49ers have acquired veteran linebacker Deion Jones from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for running back Zamir White, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Jones, 31, was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round in 2016 and spent his rookie season in Atlanta under offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who is now the 49ers' head coach. According to NFL Trade Rumors, the Saints could use running back depth with Alvin Kamara dealing with a knee injury.
The trade represents a rare direct player-for-player swap between the two teams. White was signed by the 49ers following injuries at the running back position.
