The incident was part of what Pro Football Talk characterized as "the very strange 2026 for the 49ers." Beyond White's status, the team has faced significant roster moves heading into the season. The 49ers signed a former fifth-round pick from the Falcons' practice squad and placed Sam Okuayinonu on injured reserve, per Niners Nation, describing the swap as roughly equivalent in size and measurables between the two defensive linemen.
